Sustainable small shops
Welcome to the sustainable edition of The Makers, sharing makers reducing their impact in clever and beautiful ways.
Over the last few years, I have been on my own sustainability journey with Mela Jewellery - overhauling everything - ditching unsustainable designs, changing my packaging and finding new supplies. There is still more work to do, and I love taking inspiration from others. I hope this edition helps you make some small changes so you can tread a little lighter.
Super Seconds Saturday: save and shop small sustainably
Want to shop small even more sustainably?
Coming up is Super Seconds Saturday - a fantastic way to grab a handmade bargain. On the 27th February over 250 makers are taking part in Super Seconds Saturday, including me!
If you’re a maker you’ll know you have seconds, mismakes, misprints in your studio that are really are actually quite good. This event is a way to make our businesses more sustainable, by offering old stock instead of throwing it away. It provides people a way to buy handmade on a budget too.
Check the hashtag #supersecondssaturday on Instagram, and set your alarm for 10am on the 27th February!
